KAKKA- THE CROW PART 2

Dear friends,

This is part 2 of the posting about crow. Part1 has been published on 16-2-2011.

10. Origin of Kaveri the river.

Once sage Agasthia was coming through South. Not able to get separated from his wife Lopa mudra, he changed her to water, and poured in Kamandalu and was carrying. Lopa mudra always desired to be come a river.

It was time for sandhya, sage kept Kamandalu on a small rock, went to a small water pond near and started performing sandhya.

LORD GANESHA TOOK THE FORM OF A CROW. He came near the kamandalu. He tilted it. The lid got opened; water started flowing as a river. This is the origin of river Kaveri. Sage too thought let her desire get filled up if it is so.

11. Lord Saneeswara and the crow.

Lord Saneeswara hold a crow in his hand. It is told to ward of evils if any occur during Sani dasa, sani subperiod, or Kandaka sani or ezharasani, to feed crows in Astrology.

Whether Sani dasa is there or not IT IS GOOD TO FEED CROWS. DURING SANI DASA YOU WILL BE MORE PROMPTED TO DO SO FROM THE INNER CALL.

It is good to give them water to drink. Now having multiplex buildings, no cleaning of vessels outside keeping with water, they really become thirsty with out getting water.
Once our member Sri SRINIVASA RAJU IYER SUGGESTED THROUGH HIS POSTINGS to keep some water on terrace in a flat pot with out falling in summer. They will come and drink water.

I have seen many times crows sitting in the overhead water tank overflow pipe in my house, TO DRINK EXCESS WATER WHILE FALLING WAITING FOR FALLING.

Many days I have run the motor for flowing more excess water seeing it, not one crow, two or three crows I found drinking water flowing down through the pipe… But no quarrel, one wait for the other to finish.

12. Crawling and guests.

In past while crows crawl, it was usual to say an indication of guests or some letters. 70% this used to be correct. Postmen used to deliver some letters on the day or some guests come with out intimation.

Now a day we hear crows crawl in the early morning waking us up. Afterwards they are mostly silent till evening. (Other than in places where food is offered). Evening again they crawl while going to nests.

Now a day a lot of crows crawl invariably means some thing has occurred to one among them.

While finding good food, they crawl, but limited crawling. Probably they have also changed their pattern of living.

I forgot to say- the crows more like other eatables like biscuits, pappadam, vada etc than rice. Probably they too like variety.

I HAVE TRIED. IF WE KEEP RICE AND NEAR SOME BISCUITS BROKEN, CROW FIRST TAKE BISCUITS AND NOT RICE. AFTER FINISHING ALL BITS IF HUNGRY THEY WILL TAKE RICE. Or reserve for evening.

Further they estimate the quantity, crawl once or twice. Intelligently stop crawling after wards when sufficient number has arrived. Silently as in a queue, they take biscuit bits and fly. Some take two in the beak if they are hungrier…

13. The Jackal and crow.

To tell children another story. Once a crow was getting fed with neiappam by a kid. The crow will take a bit, go to a tree branch, eat and again come for bit of neiappam.

A jackal was there below the tree branch. It desired to get neiappam. It told kakka while bringing neiappam in the beak "Your voice is very sweet. Why can't you crawl? The kakka fell on the mukashtuthi (Praising). It made a crawl. Bit of neiappam fell down. Jakal comfortably ate it.

Kakka again went, got neiappam bit. Jackal said- your singing was so sweet. I still want to hear. The story repeated. Jackal ate that bit also.

Kakka once again went, got neiappam bit. Jackal said- your singing is becoming sweeter. I want to hear more.

NOW OUR KAKKA HAS BECOME VIGIL. It kept the neiappm bit on the branch safely with out falling. It said- my crawling may be sweet- I will crawl. Wait- I am hungry. First I will finish my neiappam. It started eating neiappam slowly. After finishing again it went, got a bit and started eating.

The Jackal understood, he will not get any more bits. It said- Keeping image, you are right, I too will come another day to hear your sweet crawling.

14. Kakka kan (Eye of crow)

The eyes of crow will suitably rotate to see everywhere. The crow is said to be very vigil. Persons more vigil are said to be having kakka kan.

15. kakkayutae svabhavam( Nature of crow)
The crow will not show intimacy or attachment with us. There are some people, not bad , but will no show any intimacy. Such people are many often told- exhibiting Kaakyutae swabhavam.

16. Kakka karumbi.

The colour of crow is mostly black. When a girl is having more black complexioned skin she is referred as kakka karumbi. Some elder people many now sing—Kakka kuyilae chollu, Kai nokkan ariyamo… If they are younger- Karuppinazhaku… oooh, karuppinazhaku… ooh.

17. vadam drying

While drying vadam or pappadam if we keep a black umbrella or hang a black cloth, crow do not much come to eat vadam. Probably it may be taking the cloth as harm done to a crow….

18. Kakka kuli. ( Bathing like crow)

It has got two meanings- one hurried bath. If any body finish bath hurriedly it is often told as kakka kuli.

There is a thinking- We should not see the crow-taking bath. However, what ever we do to ward of, it will finish the bath and then only go. Many say, negative news may come if we see crow taking bath . I have seen, but in my recollecting no bad news has come to the best of my knowledge.

19. Crow flying over the head.

Normally crow will fly at a height very much above our height. But some times, it so happen, it will fly around a person with out leaving him. I have read else where, one man used to wear helmet where ever he go to escape from crow hitting.

I had once this experience, if I go to near by park for morning walk, a crow will fly close to me. I felt some times its leg touched on my head, and feather moving created big flow of wind. I got really afraid.
It got repeated next day. With out making trials and experiments , I stopped going to park for morning walk since I am 70% bald headed. If any biting or hitting over the head?… I started morning walk in another route. I wrote to Mr trsiyengar my friend about it, HE REPLIED NOTHING BAD ABOUT ALL THESE THINGS AND NOTHING TO WORRY.

The crow normally flies straight. Hence many times straight direction is told as crow flying direction. Crow will take rest after flying for certain distance. Some times it is told as crow flying distance. I will continue tomorrow.
