AARAMBHAM

1. Arambham.

Beginning is translated as aarambham in Malayalam and Thuvakkam in Tamil. When education is started it is called Vidyarambahm in Malayalam. The beginning school is called Thuvakka palli in Tamil. Normally for all beginnings an auspicious time or day is selected among Hindus. For Vidhyarambahm, the vijayadasami day morning is selected during Navarathri. The Hindu Panchangam gives auspicious days list for various samskaras. 

2. Muhurtha

Muhurtha is an auspicious time decided by the position of planets at that time which favour the occasion . A good muhurtha is called subha muhurtha and period is 1 ½ hours from the beginning. For many auspicious functions like marriage, upanayanam etc muhurtha is seen for conducting the function. The function will be beginning in the Muhurtha time.

3. Importance of beginning

Unless beginning is there, there cannot be an end. Any thing has to begin. Always beginning has to be smooth. If a seed has to grow the seeds has to be well prepared and planted making the ground smooth, watered, manure added and seed placed in correct position for easy germination. 

If a construction of a dwelling house has to come up smoothly a suitable ground has to be selected, well planning has to be done, and well started with foundation neatly and correctly laid. 

If a new subject has to be learnt, a back ground of the subject to be told and started with easily understandable things leading to the subject. A study on integrated circuit is started from sand and silica. 

4. Mandalam.

Mandalam is a specified period. The word is used in different occasions. The shrine at Sabarimala and all temples in Kerala has speciality during the Mandalam period. To indicate speciality the word chirappu is used. Mandalam is also a word used in Ayurveda for taking a course of medicine. It specifies a period for correct absorption of the medicine for curing. While antibiotics or such injections are prescribed in Allopathy , it is told to complete a course. 
Though the sign of discomfort may disappear with in two or three days, the medicine will be still acting reduce other ill effects which may not be felt by the patient.

5. Beginning of a book.

If we see any publication, in the beginning, the name, type of publication, details of author, contents etc will be given. If we read, irrespective of the subject, the first pages will be prepared in a such a way; it will make the book read. 

An introduction many a time will help much more in the beginning. 

On account of this ,mostly in public libraries earlier the books used to be binded before circulation among members. Now a day most of the books come with neat binding so that wear and tear will not affect. We can see the dictionaries neatly binded and supplied so that pages do not get torn of due to continued use. 

6. Note books and diaries

If we see any note book, there will be beginning pages made attractive and with details to give name, subject, contents. This includes the wrapper. If we take a diary we can see the beginning pages beautifully made out with many information

I do recollect my practical record books of the college. It had all information to record all checking and certifying by authorities during examination in addition to name, subject, roll no, serial no of record book etc. 
The wrapper and binding gave the impression about the institution itself more than that of student!!

7. Vidyarambham.

When a child is first sent to school, he is well dressed, suitably seated and trained by the best appealing teacher in the best tactful manner. A child will be taught only a few letters to make the learning easy in the beginning. I do recollect the educational reform, to start the first lessens with "Para, Pana" etc which are easier to write for the student rathae than "Hari sree" etc in Malayalam . 

8. Allergy test

Certain medicines may give allergy to patients. Hence before beginning administration of such medicines an allergy test is done and if the medicine has no allergic effect, it is given. Even for insulin allergy test is made first before telling dosage. 

9. Beginning alerts.

Before the commencement of an operation the patient is examined by anesthiest for his endurance to undergo the operation, double check is made about the functioning of equipments, and power supply, air-conditioning etc. Above all the relatives are explained the results of the operation, and their consent is taken to perform the same. 
10. Technical jobs

All technical works are double tested before put to function. For a rocket launching or starting of a flight , there are stages from beginning to accomplish the tasks. If any failure is noted at any stage, it is not continued. Hence the importance of beginning. 

11. The end

If a beginning is there, there is and. There is nothing endless in the universe. In Hindu Mythology even the creator has end.
